Doha Golf Club is home to one of the best courses in the Middle East, and this year it’s set to get even better.
From April, a new double green is set to be built on holes nine and 18, wrapping around the existing lake and bringing the action closer to the clubhouse.
The work will also see grass across the course changing to the paspallum dynasty species, with the majority of the greens returning to their original slopes and elevations.
Renovation works will begin from Thursday April 1, and it is hoped the new greens will be playable on Friday October 1. The rest of the course will remain open with the use of temporary greens.
Course designer Peter Harradine said, “The double green for holes 9 and 18 will be 50% larger than the combined size of their original greens – it’s going to be enormous.
“It is a completely new green and will be unrecognizable from the original course layout.”
Doha Golf Club decided to undertake renovation works after the 2019 Qatar Masters tournament, and will make it easier to host major competitions.
